Understanding Sink Scratches and Condensation

Warranty Coverage and Preventative Measures

Scratches
Why are scratches not typically covered under warranty?
Scratches are often considered normal wear and tear, resulting from everyday use of the sink. Manufacturers have limited control over cleaning practices and objects coming into contact with the sink surface.

How to prevent scratches:

  • Use soft sponges and gentle cleaning agents to avoid abrading the surface.

  • Consider using sink protectors or mats to guard against scratches from dishes or utensils.

Condensation
Why is condensation not covered under warranty?
Condensation is a natural phenomenon caused by temperature differences between the sink and its surroundings. Manufacturers have no control over these environmental factors.

How to minimize condensation:

  • Maintain a more consistent room temperature to reduce temperature fluctuations.

  • Explore additional insulation options for the sink itself to address the temperature differential directly.

Important Note:
Leaving frozen food or ice cubes in the sink can exacerbate condensation and contribute to moisture-related issues. To prevent this, thaw frozen food in the refrigerator or microwave, and ensure proper drying of the sink after thawing in emergencies.

Undercoating Paint and Condensation

Why doesn't undercoating paint completely prevent condensation?
Undercoating paint primarily serves as a sound deadener and a basic moisture barrier. However, it doesn't address the root cause of condensation — temperature differential.

Alternative solutions for persistent condensation:

  • Install additional insulation around the sink's bottom and sides using suitable materials.

  • Ensure adequate ventilation in the room to manage humidity levels and reduce the likelihood of condensation.

By understanding these factors and taking proactive measures, you can extend the life of your sink, preserve its appearance, and maintain optimal functionality.
